Art (Not a Spear) is in the Eye of the Beholder
Chula Vista school mural depicts severed, speared Trump head
Disputes over student artwork posted on school campuses are actually relatively common, and in this day of heightened partisanship it probably should come as no surprise that students allowed to paint murals with a little restrictions would include highly anti-Trump (or possibly, very pro-Trump) images. I devoted an entire chapter (Chapter 5) to student artwork issues in The Oldest Rule. While it does not sound like this dispute is likely to evolve into litigation, it is always important on the front end of any artwork assignment to establish clear limitations on any subject matter, so as not to be seen as censoring an image that one does not like after it has already been created.
